Gapscan runs entirely on your device and has no backend. The short version: your resume never leaves your device.
Gapscan has no server, no account, no analytics, and no tracking. We (the developer) never receive any data from you. The extension makes no network requests of any kind.
The resume you save is stored only on your device using Chrome's storage API. It is used solely, on your device, to compare against a job description. It is never transmitted to us or anyone else. It is stored per device/profile (it does not sync) and can be cleared by removing the extension or clearing the field.
When you paste a job description, it stays in the popup. When you click "Capture from page," the extension reads the text of the job posting on the current tab once (via Chrome's activeTab permission), only at that moment, to compare it locally. Nothing about the page or the comparison is sent anywhere.
The entire keyword match — extraction, scoring, and the missing-keyword list — runs locally in your browser. There is no network access.
storage — store your resume + settings locally.activeTab — read the job posting on the tab you click "Capture from page" on, at that moment.scripting — inject the one-shot, read-only text reader into that tab to capture the posting (pasting works without it)."Jobscan" and other named tools are trademarks of their owners. Gapscan is an independent tool and is not affiliated with or endorsed by them.
