Rephrasr is built around your own AI key and has no backend of its own. This policy explains exactly what happens to your data.

The developer collects nothing

Rephrasr has no server, no account, no analytics, and no tracking. We (the developer) never receive your API key, the text you rewrite, or any personal information.

Your API key

Your AI provider API key is stored only on your device using Chrome's storage API (one key per provider you set up). It is used solely to authenticate your requests to the AI provider you selected, sent in the request headers to that provider only. It is never placed in a URL, transmitted to us, or sent to anyone other than that provider.

The text you rewrite

When you run a rewrite, the text you submit is sent directly from your browser to the single AI provider you chose, authenticated with your own key, to generate the result. Supported providers and their privacy policies:

We do not see, store, or route this text. Your rewrite history is stored locally on your device only and can be cleared anytime.

Permissions

• storage — local storage of your keys, settings, and history.
• host access to the provider API endpoints (api.openai.com, api.anthropic.com, generativelanguage.googleapis.com, api.mistral.ai, api.deepseek.com, api.x.ai, api.groq.com, openrouter.ai) — only to send your requests to whichever provider you chose. No web page or other site is accessed.
